Student Ambassador
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) and international campaign #ChooseWOMEN is a non-governmental volunteer charity that empowers, celebrates, and supports women in business worldwide. Launched in 2013, WEDO works globally to empower women and girls to become active participants in the economy by igniting a network of women leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities around the world. To achieve this ambitious goal, WEDO builds and catalyzes the vital networks of like-minded individuals and organizations that women business leaders need to realize their full potential and change the world.
WEDO Canada was established in 2019 and currently has Ambassadors in five provinces – Alberta, Ontario, British Colombia, Manitoba, and Quebec with plans to grow across Canada. We provide scholarships to female students who are attending an entrepreneurial program and have a business. We host educational summits with high-calibre speakers and panels to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day across Canada and have sponsorship from many organizations.
Each Student Ambassador plays a crucial role in engaging students and universities for WEDO Canada, a national charitable organization. This position requires a versatile and innovative individual who can handle a wide range of responsibilities, with a particular emphasis on developing and enhancing relationships with students and universities and in supporting the WEDO Canada Ambassadors in hosting the annual summits.
Your Responsibilities will include:
1. Recruit Student Ambassadors
– The Student Ambassador will work with the Student Ambassador Lead to recruit other Student Ambassadors, including students who have previously been WEDO Canada scholars.
2. Relationship Management
– Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with universities and students who are potential scholars or attendees for the WEDO summit.
– Represent the organization at Women’s Entrepreneurial events and networking events to promote its mission and build relationships.
3. Support the Ambassadors
– Collaborate with the Ambassador for your respective province/city and support the Ambassador in planning and organizing the summit events.
– Document any processes and procedures to be included in the Ambassadors manual.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
– Currently a student in a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree program in a relevant field, preferably STEM or business.
– Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
– Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
– Passion for the mission of WEDO and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
This role will report to the Student Ambassador Lead.
Time Commitment and Term:
This role is 5 hours per month with more commitment initially to get the role established and in the 6 weeks leading up to the summits.
Location: Winnipeg, Edmonton, Ontario and BC.
