Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) and international campaign #ChooseWOMEN is a non-governmental volunteer organization that empowers, celebrates, and supports women in business worldwide. Launched in 2013, WEDO works globally to empower women and girls to become active participants in the economy by igniting a network of women leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion, and advance communities around the world. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, WEDO builds and catalyzes the vital networks of like-minded individuals and organizations that women business leaders need in order to realize their full potential and change the world.
To support this mission, WEDO Canada is assembling a Marketing Committee to amplify our impact, strengthen communications, and enhance visibility. Volunteer Role – WEDO Canada PR & Media Relations Coordinator
Are you a storyteller with a love for media? This volunteer role is your chance to raise awareness, pitch meaningful stories, and grow a strong voice for women’s entrepreneurship.
As PR & Media Relations Coordinator, you’ll help expand WEDO Canada’s visibility and influence. Working directly with the Marketing Director, you’ll craft press content, pitch media opportunities, and monitor public engagement.
Your Responsibilities will include:
· Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and PR kits.
· Identify speaking engagements and media exposure opportunities.
· Maintain media contact lists and outreach records.
· Collaborate on public campaigns and communications.
The main outcomes of this role:
· Strengthen your PR writing and media pitching skills.
· Gain exposure to nonprofit brand management.
· Build your reputation in cause-driven communications.
